“You must respond within 24 hours”

Urgency is a tool, and it is being used on you.

Real promotions have deadlines — often a week or thirty days to return an affidavit — and they are written into the Official Rules, where you can go and read them.

What real promotions do not do is invent a deadline in the notification itself that gives you less time than it would take to check. Urgency in a prize notification exists for exactly one purpose: to stop you looking things up, asking somebody, or sleeping on it.

Treat a countdown as a reason to slow down. If the prize is real, an hour spent checking will not lose it.
